SIX TOOLS FOR BUILDING A BETTER MEMORY
SIX TOOLS FOR BUILDING A BETTER MEMORY
A good memory is essential to building the foundation of a successful life. This can be achieved when one builds his/her memory better, but the question which people have been asking for many years is; Is it really possible to improve your memory? Have you ever found yourself forgetting where you left something or something you said to someone a few minutes ago? Fortunately, there are six tools to help you build a better memory.
Memory Tool #1: How to remember dates and numbers
You can associate the dates with something that you know really well. Maybe 17 and 76, or only 76 are the numbers of your favorite athletes or are a part of your or someone else’s birthdays or some other significant dates to you.
Memory Tool # 2: Rhyme to remember
Need to remember something? Make it a Rhyme. That’s probably the easiest way to remember something.
Memory Tool #3: Use places to remember specific things
Often, things are difficult to remember because they seem so random and obscure unless we can relate them to something specific. I probably know you have heard about the Loci Method. This method is a strategy of memory enhancement that uses visualization of familiar spatial environments in order to enhance the recall of things.
Memory Tools #4: Use acronyms or initials
Acronyms and Initials are typically the most familiar type of mnemonic strategies. Acronyms use a simple formula of a letter to represent each word or phrase that needs to be remembered.
Memory Tools: #5: Create pictures to boost your memory
The mind thinks in images because of that it’s important to create pictures to remember information.
Memory Tools: #6: Make connections
The overall point of trying to engage as many senses as you can is to create for yourself many different connections with the learning material. The more you are connected with it, the easier it will be for you to save it and then fish it out of your long-term memory.
